Department Mission: 
The Learning Specialist and the Learning Advocate are here to serve the student body at large, with a special focus on students with learning needs, to ensure students' success at academic achievement. The department assists students, their parents, and teachers with the means to facilitate the learning process.  The Learning Specialist and Learning Advocate coordinate efforts with the regular classroom teachers and work with them, the guidance counselors, the International Coordinator, and the administrators for the benefit of the students.

Department Goals: 
  • Provide information to students, educators, and parents so that they may make balanced and well-informed decisions regarding the student’s education and approach to any learning problem.
  • Train students, parents, and teachers in use of learning methods, adaptations, and skills, using the Response to Intervention (RtI) and differentiated learning models.
  • Provide services: tutoring, assessment, testing environment, liaison, consultation and referral.
  • Research and make available the latest and most up-to-date information on learning, learning disabilities, and on conditions affecting learning.
